Caries is a lesion that occurs on the surface of the tooth, there is a demineralization caused by acids that destroy tooth tissue.



This is a new system developed for the classification of decay depending on the size and size that is in the tooth.

The organazacion is called the International System for Detection and Diagnosis of Dental Caries. (ICDS)

Special Interest:
Helps identify caries in early stages.
It is useful to monitor the progression of the lesions.

It is a new international system for caries detection and diagnosis, agreed in Baltimore, Maryland. USA in 2005, for clinical practice, research and development of public health programs. The objective was to develop a visual method for detecting cavities, so early as possible, and also detect the severity and level of activity of the same.


PATIENT EDUCATION ON THE DECAY

Educating parents to help their children maintain oral health throughout their lives must begin at an early age. Parents are responsible for children to brush their teeth until five or six years. After reminding them that it is also desirable to keep healthy teeth need fluoride they ripen, from 6 months to 16 years. Explain the importance of maintaining a good diet throughout their growth so avoid tooth decay.
