The involvement of impacted third molars or wisdom teeth is one of the most frequent being practiced. Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually do not have enough space in the mouth to experience a rash correct. This anomalous eruption can cause different problems:
- When the wisdom teeth erupt partially incomplete communication with the germs of the mouth will allow bacteria to grow and cause recurrent infections. The result is swelling, pain and difficulty in swallowing food and general malaise.
- The pressure from wisdom teeth erupting teeth may move and cause crowding of the teeth that were naturally aligned or have orthodontic treatment relapse.
- The most serious problem, although less frequent, is the formation of tumors or cysts form around the wisdom tooth, resulting in destruction of bone and surrounding teeth.
The surgical removal of wisdom teeth is an intervention that is usually performed with local anesthesia, performing an extraction of up to four wheels. Only in very selected cases is required to perform additional intravenous sedation. It is completely painless intervention lasting from 10 to 30 minutes and usually requires the placement of sutures that are removed in 7 days.
